Why should you take part in our first ever Festival of Cycling?

A new cycling event taking place in Market Harborough on Sunday 29th March 2015 looks set to be a sell-out successfirst festival of cycling

For keen cyclist, the focus is on the 2 longer distance events.  These ‘Sportive’ distances consist of a 50km and 100km ride which are both now sold out.

Activities at the festival start from 10.00am and spectators are welcome to look out for and cheer along cyclists as they take in Kibworth, Medbourne, Great Glen and Fleckney. Both events start and end at Robert Smyth Accademy in Burnmill Road, Market Harborough. See the full map of the event here

The Robert Smyth base for the event will see a number of other activities – aimed at a wider family audience including various stalls. Sustainable Harborough are sponsoring and organising a family trail around the playing fields where children of all ages are encouraged to bring their bikes and follow a set of clues that lead to a set of prizes.

Local cycling club Whizz Kids will be offering free safety and cycling advice for children – a few remaining places for this free cycling tuition can be booked in advance by emailing info@raceharborough.co.uk.

“We are delighted that over 250 have now registered for the various events – aged from 4 years of age upwards. We really want to make it a celebration of cycling for all ages and abilities” comments Amy Handford of organisers Race Harborough.

Jo Sharman from Sustainable Harborough comments “We have had a lot of fun in putting together the cycling trail and hope that children of all ages come along on their bikes to explore, discover and win the prizes on offer for completing the course”.
