Following last year’s successful sell out event, the Santa Fun Run is returning to Market Harborough for a second year on 13th December. Due to popular demand the Santa Fun Run is this year doubling their numbers.
The 2015 run will welcome 500 running Santa’s dashing around Welland Park to raise money for local charity, the Squires Effect. The run, organised by Race Harborough and sponsored by Snap Fitness, costs £12 for an adult registration and £6 for under-16s. Also available are a range of family bundle tickets as well as free registration for infants (2 and under) and dogs. Santa costumes come included with all registration prices.
The Santa Fun Run will begin outside the Welland Park Café at 2pm with entrants free to run either the 5km or 2km race- all finishers will receive a medal.
To entertain the family friends and well-wishers that will come along to support the runners, refreshments will be available and live music will be performed by the Market Harborough Ukulele Group. Prizes will be held for best dressed dog and the first Santa to catch the runner dressed as a Christmas pudding will win £100 to donate to a charity of their choice.
Brian Corcoran form Race Harborough is hoping to repeat the success of last year’s event: “Last year was a great day and it was all for a good cause. The support that we got from the Market Harborough residents was fantastic. This year we want to double the money raised for Squires Effect. This means that our target for this year £5,000 and we are encouraging all entrants to raise just £10 each.” Brian continues “Even if you’re not interested in running, we urge all Harborough residents to come to the park to cheer on our Santa’s!”
