It has been a tough year for everyone and the events industry is not unique in that it has been hit hard financially. There are signs that events are starting to get back to normal but guidance states that we cannot yet return to staging sportives. Events such as this have several months lead in time. We had hoped to reschedule this year’s event to November but with uncertainty surrounding a second spike and the governing body guidance, this will not be possible. We have therefore decided that the only sensible option is to operate the Festival of Cycling as a virtual ride.


Here’s how it will work.

If you would like to complete the event as a virtual ride, you can download the GPX for either the 100km road or 60km off-road routes. These will be available at the top of the page. Send us confirmation (via email) when you have completed it and we’ll post your medal to you. This can be done any time in October or November. If you’re not local, we suggest that you park in Market Harborough somewhere and then head over to the start.

Virtual rides seem to be priced around the £10 mark across the industry. The entry fee paid was £20 or £25. When you email, please let us know if you would like the additional entry fee that you paid as a credit towards another event or if you are happy for it to be donated to Adamsmile, the official event charity.

Alternatively, if you would rather not take part in the virtual event, your entry can be rolled over to the Festival of Cycling 2021 (provisionally March 14th) or any other Race Harborough event. We will be opening a number of events in the next few weeks.

NB: The family route will not be available. If you have entered the family route, please email us to let us know if you would like to take part in the virtual event or if you would prefer a refund.
