Welcome to the Tunnel Vision Night, Dawn & Virtual Runs
We know that you love running in the dark. Some of you prefer it in the morning and others at night. Well, you can do both.
The popular Night Run starts at 7.30pm on Thursday 4th November 2021 and the Dawn Run at 6.30am on Friday 5th November.
You can enter one or both of them. Both routes take in the very long and very dark Oxendon Tunnel. At 422m long, the old railway tunnel really is an imposing sight and pitch black. So we’ve decided to light it (mood lighting only, you’ll still need a headtorch) and provide a unique opportunity for you to run through it ….and back again. The Dawn Run has the added bonus of a sunrise to enjoy too.
Virtual entry returns
Following the success of the virtual event last year, we will also be leaving this an option for 2021. If you are not able to attend either the night or dawn run, this gives you an opportunity to participate. Complete 2 x 5 mile runs (ideally one after 7.30 pm and one before 6.30am) within the w/c 1-7th November and we’ll post you both medals.
As you know, November is a special period for the town with the month long Mo’ket Harborough campaign. In 2014 it raised approximately £16,000 and we at Race Harborough HQ, decided we wanted to do our bit. Tunnel Vision was born in 2015 and we have been donating ever since.
If you wish to donate online when you enter, it would be massively appreciated. We’ll put more info about the nominated Mo’ket Harborough/Movember supported charities when it becomes available.
Tunnel Vision is an out and back, 5 mile running race. Long enough to be a challenge for quality athletes and short enough to be achievable for less experienced runners looking for a challenge.
The entry fee is £20 for a single race and £35 for both.
The virtual only option is £20 and includes 2 x interlocking medals.
The minimum age for competitors is 14 years.
When you complete the Night Run you will be presented with a medal. A hot brew and biscuits are also included in your entry fee (subject to COVID restrictions at the time).
After the Dawn Run you will a delicious glass of orange juice, a croissant and of course a medal.
The two medals will interlink. You will want both.
Our friends at Duncan Murray Wines in association with the Box Steam Brewery bring you a great post race recovery option. A delicious selection of quality bottled ales.
The selection includes not only a beer so good they named a night run after it (not really!), Tunnel Vision (light Amber) but also Piston Broke (Golden Ale), Funnel Blower (Vanilla Porter), Soul Train (Golden IPA) and Derail Ale (zesty Pale Ale). These usually retail at £2.99 but thanks to Duncan, we can offer them for £2.50. These must be pre-ordered, when you enter. There will not be any extras sold on the night.
Due to the nature of the narrow track, dogs on leads will only be allowed to take part in the Dawn Run.
We hope that you understand. There will be a separate award for 1st Male and Female Cani.
Entries can be transferred to another runner up to the Monday before the race. You can do this manually by logging in to the system. After this date, transfers will not be accepted. There is too much going on during race week.
