Naseby 1645 – Road Closures & Traffic Management

SUNDAY, 16TH FEBRUARY 2025 (TBC)

In order to maintain safety for our runners at this event, the following road closures and traffic management measures will be in place on race day.

RACE START TIME: 09:00
CUT OFF TIME: 13:00

The Route

Starting on the main driveway of Marston Lodge, Marston Trussell, the route will pass the following Battle of Naseby 1645 memorials and viewpoints: ROC Viewpoint, Moot Hill Viewpoint, Retreat Viewpoint, Cromwell Monument, Obelisk Monument, Fairfax’s Viewpoint, and Rupert’s Viewpoint, before returning to the finish at Marston Lodge.

Road Closures

The following roads will be closed at that times stated. Diversions will be in place during these times.

• Clipston Road (known locally as Dick’s Hill) – 09:00 to 10:00 (from point A to B on map above)
• Sibbertoft Road, from the junction with Clipston Road (Dick’s Hill) to Sibbertoft – 09:00 to 10:00 (from point B to C on map above)
• Naseby Road, from the junction with Longhold Road to the junction with Welford Road (Naseby) – 09:15-10:30 (from point D to E on map above)

One-Way Road

The following road will be closed one way at that time stated.

• Road from Fairfax’s View to Sibbertoft/Kelmarsh Road – road closed one way from monument end 09:45-11:05 (from point G to H on map above)

Temporary Speed Restrictions: 60mph to 40mph

The following temporary speed restrictions will be in place for the duration of the race (09:00-13:00).

• From Sibbertoft village green to the junction on Longhold Road with Naseby Road (from point C to D on map above)
• From near Naseby along Clipston Road to the junction with the unnamed road or Naseby Road (from point F to G on map above)
• Kelmarsh Road to Clipston (from point H to I to J on map above)
• Harborough Road from Clipston to East Farndon (from point M to N on map above)
• Marston Lane/Farndon Road (from point P to Q on map above)
• Sibbertoft Road, from the junction with Farndon Road to the junction with Clipston Road (Dick’s Hill) (from point Q to R on map above)

Stop-Go Operations

Stop-Go operations will be in place at the following locations at the times stated.

• Naseby Road/Longhold Road (Sibbertoft) at the junction with Naseby Road – 9:15-10:25 (point D on map above)
• Clipston Road (nr Naseby) at the junction with unnamed Road at Fairfax’s View – 9:30 -11:00 (point G on map above)
• Kelmarsh to Sibbertoft Road at the junction with Kelmarsh Road (to Clipston) – 10:00-11:30 (point I on map above)

No Right Turn

There will be ‘No Right Turn’ at the following locations at the times stated.

• Junction of the unnamed Road at Fairfax’s View with Clipston Road; No Right Turn towards Clipston – 9:30 -11:00 (point G on map above)
• Junction of Kelmarsh Road (from Clipston) with Longhold Road; No Right Turn towards Sibbertoft – 10:00-11:30 (point I on map above)

Local Residents

Leaflets outlining the measures above will be delivered to all residents along the route during January.
