This event doesn’t require huge numbers of volunteers, but all those involved did a splendid job of making everyone feel welcomed at the start/finish and at the feed station.

An extra special thank you goes out to Michael and Richard for designing a brand new set of routes for all riders again this year too.  Michael designed this year’s off-road routes, ensuring plenty of variety and challenges and some testing climbs along the way!  Richard designed both road routes, and also spent a considerable amount of time marking the routes in the lead up to the event, and removing all the road signs again the day after the event!

This event could not happen without the huge amount of expertise and knowledge the pair of them bring to the team, and I am once again, incredibly grateful for their support and enthusiasm to help host this event every year.

Our photographer, Billy, was kept incredibly busy trying his best to spot everybody out on route as many times as possible throughout the day!  With four routes all heading out in different directions it is a real challenge to know where to be, and when!

Our mid-point feed station goes down very well each year too. Well-stocked with cheese baps, quiche, cakes, crisps and hot drinks. And pizza for all at the finish! What could be better?!

Marking the courses takes three of us two days before the event, and a further day to demark them all again afterwards. This year, that final day involved covering 35 miles on foot and began at 2:30am for me, allowing me time to get back for the afternoon school run!

The routes for the four rides change every year to keep things fresh and interesting, so keep an eye on our socials to know when planning has begun for the 2027 event!
